On Monday afternoon I was sitting here at my desk working and, as I do during the day, paused to look out the window into the backyard. I can see our deck and the garden and an area for flowers that I really need to weed. On this particular occasion I looked out and saw a mama turkey with three little baby turkeys walking across the yard. I got up and went outside so I could get a closer look. Not that I love the turkey poop they leave behind, but it was really cute to see those little turkeys toddling behind the mama. They wandered from our yard and then across the fence to the neighbor's. Good job, Mother Nature!
On Tuesday I took Jackson for an early morning walk before it got to be too blazing hot outside. If Sarah had been with me we would have been running, but I am far less motivated on my own with the stroller so we were just enjoying a walk. Right past the park, traffic in both directions came to a halt and I looked up and saw a mama duck with five little ducklings walking across the street. So cute! Just like you see in books and drawings they all walked single file: mama, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby. I thought, "this must be the week of baby animals." Very cute, Mother Nature!
On Wednesday morning I was cleaning up after breakfast while Jackson ran around the dining room, throwing balls and telling stories. I went over to open the curtains since the sun had finally moved enough that it wouldn't blind me, and as I looked up I saw approximately 30 tiny baby spiders on the ceiling. I ran and grabbed some paper towels and sprayed them down with kitchen cleaner, got up on a chair and began wiping up all the baby arachnids while whimpering "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god". DID NOT ENJOY. NO. NOT. DID NOT.
THAT'S A BAD MOTHER NATURE, BAD!! You go sit in that corner and think about what you did.
