My Favorite Fitness App

As promised (to myself) I am getting a set workout routine in place by Jackson's first birthday and after a couple weeks of trying different times, schedules, and workouts I'm almost there. I'll write up my set new routine in a couple of weeks when I really feel like it's "set". It takes 28 days for something to become habit and that's where I'm headed.

In the meantime, the main component of getting me to that routine has been my new favorite fitness app, Nike Training Club app. This is a completely unsponsored post, I just really like the app. I don't care about being able to earn rewards or unlocking exclusive workouts or anything like that, although for some reason I was excited when I unlocked my first reward and got a bunch of smoothie recipes (that I could have made up myself but seemed more fun this way). Maybe I will care more as I get more rewards but the main reason I like the app is because I can pick from over 100 different workouts and find, for example, a workout that I can do in my office with dumbbells.

There are a whole slew (you're welcome for the specifics!) of 15 minute workouts per body part. For example, I've done a 15 minute back workout, 15 min leg workout, 15 min shoulder workout. They're 15 straight minutes with no rest (or no more than 30 secs) so at least you keep yourself moving. I've fallen squarely in the "a 15 minute workout is better than a 0 minute workout" lifestyle right now so even if the house is a disaster and dinner needs to be made and laundry needs folding and the baby needs attention I can almost always fit in 15 minutes.

When things aren't quite so hectic I can pick a 45 strength workout or 30 minutes of cardio or whatever. I haven't even begun to explore them all because there are so many.

I guess the point is that even though I'm more than capable of putting together my own workout routine I like the mindlessness of just picking something and letting the app tell me what to do next. In a perfect world it might not be my workout style of choice, but it's definitely working for me right now and this bizarre juggling act of baby/work/house/self.

So if you can't make it to the gym, or if the baby jammed a banana in the DVD player, or you just feel like something different check it out and let me know what you think!

  1. I will check it out. I've committed to jillian micahels 30 day shred. Just completed day six. Kicking my ass, but feels good to be working up a sweat on a regular basis.
